Özet
In the 2010s, issues of gender have worldwide become some of the top matters that polarise societies. This fact applies to Turkey, as well. One consequence of this development is a growing interest in feminism, especially among young women. This article argues that of the factors that raise a feminist consciousness among young women, the phenomenon of femicide plays a crucial role. Seeing it as an existential threat, young women, in response, get organised online and in person as an ‘act of citizenship’ against the misogyny that consolidates around femicides. This phenomenon has initiated a new phase of feminist mobilisation that may be described as ‘diffuse feminism’.
