Özet
In this chapter, technological development and current progress in the warm stamping operation are discussed. As known, tremendous amount of efforts has been put on lightweight designs in order to reduce fuel consumption for auto bodies. Fuel saving up to 6% or 8% can be possible for every 10% weight reduction in a car’s weight. However, lightweight materials and advanced/ultrahigh strength steels (A/UHSSs) have low formability at room temperature. Therefore, to overcome the formability problems of these alloys, warm stamping process that does not cause to the troubles seen in cold and hot forming processes is started to use in sheet metal industry. Warm forming is a key process to increase the ductility of the materials in order to increase their usage in car manufacturing industry substantially.
