Özet
In this paper, a case study of vinyl sheet pile application under the historical Sakarya Bridge on Sakarya River is studied. The main challenge of the project was the height of the application site. The design length of the piles were 10 m and the height of the bridge where the application was going to be made under; was 7,5 meters. In addition, gabions are present under the bridge ambutment and Provincal Authority of Historic Monuments expect no damage around the bridge. The soil of the site were well-degraded sand according to the soil investigation. To apply the design length, 10m vinyl piles were divided into two parts as 6 m– 4m sections. Then the pieces were applied one after the other, adding up to 10m. After the application was finished, steel sheet piles are applied in front of the vinyl sheet piles. After the application of additional steel sheet piles, the vinyl sheet piles rotated immediately because of vibrating at the soil. Backfill of the Wall emptied and the causes for the damage have been researched.
