Özet

Dispersed saturated lightweight aggregates (L W As) in a cement paste with low water/cement ratio were used as water reservoirs to prevent early age deformations. For this purpose, 30 percent by volume of cement paste with the sarne low water/cement ratio was replaced by artificial LWA at different size fractions such as 4.00-6.73 mm and 6.73-8.00 mm. The effect of average particle size of L WA on the load-displacement at rnid-span curve was also investigated by measuring the fracture energy, the characteristic length and final displacement. The inclusion of fine fraction of L WA in the hardened cement paste reduces the autogenous deformation, increases the fracture energy, final displacement at the rnid-span curve of the beam, splitting tensile strength and compressive strength significantly compared to those of the coarse fraction.
