Özet
In this paper, treatability of indigo dyeing bath was studied. Initially sulfide ions were oxidized. Catalytic air oxidation provided a residual sulfite of 2000 mg l-1 within one day, which was selected as the optimum duration. Oxone and H2O2 oxidation were applied to air-oxidized samples to provide complete oxidation. Reactions were practically complete within one hour and reaction rate was fitted to modified first order kinetics. Sulfate precipitation was carried out in two steps; CaSO4.2H2O precipitation followed by ettringite precipitation. 2000 mgl-1 final sulfate was obtained.
