Özet

This paper investigates the production and operation management practices empirically in ninety-one organizations from the top 500 largest industrial enterprises of Turkey. Using a questionnaire the study investigates the relationships among firm purposes, manufacturing strategies, and utilization of production and operations management (POM) techniques through a path analysis. The findings of the study show that the direct effect of manufacturing strategies on the utilization level of POM techniques is not statistically significant. On the other hand, perceived importance of firms' purposes influence directly the utilization level of production and operations management techniques as well as the choices of manufacturing strategies.
