Özet

The generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy are handled as a whole and these components constitute the electricity power system. On the other hand, interconnected power system comes into existence through the interconnection of generation and consumption points. With the need for energy escalating day by day, increases occur in generation and interconnected power system expands and becomes more powerful with each additional investment. One of the important problems of the expanding power systems is that the fault currents might exceed limit values and the system can be left vulnerable at critical points. In this article, we aimed to draw attention to the rising fault currents within the expanding power system and to reveal the necessity to reduce such fault currents under appropriate operating conditions within a period lasting until the investment is made. Furthermore, we have shared some studies included in the literature as regards with the subject matter.
