Özet

Electric propulsion has been used in warships either directly or together with a diesel engine as a hybrid system. This paper describes the main features of electric propulsion and the installation of the system on a frigate. It is shown that, due to the needs of the Turkish Navy, the dieselelectric hybrid system is much better than the existing Combined Diesel and/or Gas Turbine drive systems for frigates in service.
