Özet

In underground mining operations, auxiliary ventilation systems play a crucial role in the overall ventilation strategy. These systems are employed to facilitate the flow of fresh air to work areas that are not adequately serviced by the primary ventilation system. In the absence of sufficient auxiliary ventilation, it becomes challenging to maintain acceptable air quality and quantity in production and development galleries, irrespective of the conditions in the main airways. Leakages in auxiliary ventilation systems are commonly observed at duct joints. Furthermore, localized damages such as holes, tears, and dents on the duct line can cause significant air leakage. These leakages adversely impact the performance of auxiliary ventilation systems by reducing ventilation efficiency, increasing energy consumption, and elevating operating costs. This study investigates the impact of leakages on the performance of auxiliary ventilation systems in underground mines. The research was conducted on an auxiliary ventilation line at the Koza Gold mine. Airflow rate and pressure drop were measured at various points along the duct line, and computer simulations were employed to analyze system performance and cost. The findings indicate that leakages in auxiliary ventilation systems substantially diminish ventilation efficiency while increasing energy consumption and operating costs.
