Özet

In this study, the aim is to develop a hydroxyapatite coated, microporous, rough and antibacterial surface on titanium-based alloys via micro arc oxidation process. Different amount of silver added to micro arc oxidation solution and examined the antibacterial effect of silver concentration. Titanium oxide layer was formed on titanium by micro-arc oxidation at various applied voltages in an electrolytic solution containing calcium, phosphorus and silver ions. Microporous titanium oxide layer was formed on the titanium substrates. The thickness, composition and morphology of the oxide layer were examined with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS). XRD patterns showed that the microporous layer on titanium surface was made up of anatase, rutile, hydroxyapatite, calcium titan-ate, calcium phosphate and small amount of silver particles. Antibacterial property of the titanium oxide surface was examined by employing Escherichia coli bacteria stains by disk diffusion antibacterial tests.
