Stability and energy dissipation of an antifer layer protected caisson

Özet

The present study intends to assess the stability and energy dissipation performance of a caisson breakwater configuration protected by an antifer layer (APC). For comparison, an ordinary caisson (OC), which was 5% wider and 10% heavier, was also investigated. Physical models were implemented to measure linear and angular displacements as well as wave heights and wave forces. The measured displacements were compared with calculated displacements via wave forces timeseries. Although OC was tested under shorter durations and had a more favorable superstructure in terms of resisting forces, the results indicated that APC was significantly more stable and had a better dissipation performance in terms of reflection.
