Özet

Recent studies based on multichannel seismic surveys carried out in Ross Sea (Eastern Basin, Antarctica) detected an important erosion surface in the Lower Pliocene, called RSU2. The RSU2 horizon determines a sharp change both in the margin geometry and in the depositional sequences, which may be interpreted as a major increase of the glacial influence. In this work, we present the preliminar results obtained from the processing and the tomographic inversion of the multichannel seismic data collected by the OGS_Explora vessel during the last Antarctic cruise. This study, mainly based on the reflection seismic method, provides new information about the erosion process that produced the RSU2 horizon, and about the nature of adjacent sediments.
