Özet
This study investigated the environmental and technical feasibility of the high-rate activated sludge (HRAS) system and post oxidation for five large wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) of Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI) already discharging effluents into the lower stratum of the Bosporus. A two-year HRAS pilot-scale study was conducted in ISKI Baltalimanı Preliminary WWTP and the results from a semi-technical scale chemical post oxidation (by ozone and ozone + hydrogen peroxide) study were presented. It was found that the proposed treatment configuration is quite energy efficient and could remove chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solids (TSS) significantly.
