Özet

The utilization of ultra-wideband (UWB) radars for vital sign detection is increasingly expanding. For detecting low level biological signals with UWB radar, the gain of the antenna integrated with the radar is crucial. In this study, it has been demonstrated that integrating frequency-selective surface (FSS) reflector, designed to enhance the gain of a patch antenna array, improves the radar's performance in detecting respiration signals through the implementation of advanced signal processing algorithms. Two element patch antenna array and FSS reflector were fabricated and subjected to performance tests. Subsequently, in the developed system, which incorporates noise and clutter removal algorithms, variance statistics, and the Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) algorithm, the target distance and respiration frequency were extracted from the measurement data. The findings of this study confirm that the integration of the FSS reflector with the antenna array significantly enhances the radar's capability in vital sign detection applications.
