Özet

Considering the negative effects of fossil fuels on the world and public health, world cities have been making comprehensive sustainable transportation plans and developing policies in order to reduce mainly the share of rubber-tired vehicles, especially private cars, and to expand the rail system while encouraging active modes of transport such as cycling. In order to adopt cyling, additional infrastructure applications are needed. In this study, the optimal layout of bicycle cages, which is concluded to be the most requested type of bicycle park at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality stakeholder meetings, through a real case is analyzed. Parameters affecting the locations of bicycle cages have been determined and the most suitable locations are identified using Geographical Information Systems and, smart bike cage locations are prioritized by Analytic Hierarchy Process.
