Özet
A realistic CFD model for the flow simulations for a small sized hydrocyclone was considered. This model was based on multiphase flow principles. As the result of simulations, parameters such as particle size distribution of overflow and underflow streams, cut size, volume split, solids contents of the products and pressure drop are evaluated. Simulations were carried out for an identical setup with a small diameter hydrocyclone present in the laboratory to make a comparison between experimental and computational results. The comparison shows that experimental results are reasonably predicted by CFD simulations with regard to the particle size distribution. Deviations are within several percent. Mass flow rates for underflow and overflow streams were also obtained in experimental studies as well as simulations and are in good agreement with each other. Furthermore, pressure drop estimation is also made and compared with the experimental conditions.
