Özet

In this study, the enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) of industrial wastewater was investigated using lab scale SBR and full scale modeling studies. The operation of SBR system under different chemical oxygen demand (COD)/phosphorus(P) ratios (COD/P: 65-120) indicated that nearly 80% of phosphorus removal was possible via implementing anaerobic selector prior to the aeration tanks. The current phosphorus removal performance of the industrial WWTP was around 45%. The uptake rate of phosphorus was estimated to be 45% lower than that of municipal WWTPs. The dynamic modeling of industrial WWTP showed that it is possible to increase the real time biological phosphorus removal performance from 45% upto 80%. After commisioning of anaerobic basins of plant upgrade, the calculated performance for EBPR was validated by effluent analyses after one month of operation.
