Özet

The study aims to investigate hygrothermal performance of the traditional timber framed houses’ external wall systems in Türkiye applying both numerical and experimental methods in order to contribute to developments of approaches and intervention strategies for performance improvement in conservation/restoration/reconstruction projects. For this purpose, adobe infill and veneered timber framed systems were chosen as case study. DELPHIN was applied for the numerical analysis and guarded hot box apparatus in the TSE Building Materials Fire and Acoustic Laboratory Directorate Laboratory was used for the experimental analysis. The wall specimens were designed as 150 cm x 150 cm which is the dimensions of guarded hot. Material properties analysis of the wall layers to be processed into the DELPHIN software was held in ITU Faculty of Architecture Construction Materials Laboratory. Under the same conditions, DELPHIN simulations and hot box tests results of temperature and U values were compared. The study may apply as a guide in conservation/restoration/reconstruction projects of traditional timber framed houses to determine negative effects of inefficient hygrothermal performance and suggest improvements for hygrothermal performance. Depending on the data, it is anticipated that DELPHIN may play significant role to determine the current situation and, if necessary, to investigate performance improvement proposals.
