Özet

Stress-strain behavior of silicon carbide particulate reinforced aluminum composites and stress localization which initiate damage in their microstructure were analyzed using finite elements method. A FORTRAN code was developed. The composite was assumed to be 3D infinite periodic array of spherical particles embedded in the matrix. Comparison of numerical results with published experimental data showed that the approach used is a very reliable tool to analyze the mechanical behavior of metal matrix composites. The conclusions drawn contain valuable information for the optimization and the design of particle reinforced composites.
