Factors Affecting Acceptance of Internet as a Healthcare Information Source

By the help of internet technology, people have opportunity to perform much kind of activities over the virtual world. Improving internet technology extends its usage area alternatives, and simultaneously its users. Mailing, information seeking and providing, librarianship and education are the widely used areas while moneycontaining issues like banking and shopping have limited use. As being one of the most widely used areas, information seeking and providing, also have some difficulty in the users perspective, as finding the most effective information among the poor or incorrect information pool. In healthcare dimension, that defective information may result much more serious problems. Growing evidence indicates that a significant propm1ion of internet health information consumers are engaging treatment strategies inconsistent with professional recommendations. To face with the misuse of the internet technology as in healthcare concept, it’s essential to define and understand users’ acceptance of internet as a healthcare information source. In the literature, there is a huge variety of papers that study users’ acceptance o[ internet technology in ditterent usage areas and there are also research analyzing internet as being hcalthcare information source, that mostly focusing on its limitations. However there exists just little research on people’s acceptance of internet as a hcalthcare information source. This study aims to define factors affecting users’ healthcare information seeking over internet. To this end, models proposed in studies will be thoroughly analyzed and a model will be generated.
