Özet
This study involves the boriding of low carbon steel via novel integrated pulse current application in CRTD-Bor-molten salt electrolysis. The effects of process temperatures (950, 1000, and 1050 °C) and times (5, 10 and 30 min) were investigated at the constant current density of 200 mA/cm2 and the duty cycle of 1/4 (ton = 1 sec, toff = 3 sec). The pulsed-borided specimens produced at the optimized parameters (i.e. 1000 °C and 30 min) had the surface hardness of 1800 ± 100 HV with the perfect adhesion to the substrate (HF1). Besides, the activation energy of this combined process was calculated as 38.8 kJ/mol which is nearly 36.7 % lower than the reported values in literature.
