Özet

In this study, a temporal assessment on land cover changes of the historical peninsula of Istanbul, which is the biggest province of Turkey, has been investigated using remotely sensed data and GIS. The study focuses on acquiring and analysis of land-use distribution between 1963 and 2000. IRS 1C and CORONA images and several digital and differently scaled maps were used. Dramatic increment of the man-made objects, filled areas in the coastal line, and areas, transformed from green lands to urban ones, were presented.
