Özet

The present in vitro study investigated osteoclast-like cell (the boneresorbing cells) functions on nanophase ceramics. For this purpose, rat bone-marrow cells were seeded onto nanophase and conventional alumina and hydroxyapatite substrates and cultured under standard cell culture conditions for 7, 10, and 13 days. After the prescribed time period, synthesis of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) was determined in the lysates of cells using a commercially available kit (Sigma). Resorption pits on the ceramic surfaces were visualized and counted using reflected light microscopy (Olympus I×70) with image analysis software (Image Pro).
