Özet
In this study, user preference for compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) was determined within a pilot project implemented in Istanbul Terasevler Housing Estate with the aim of determining electrical energy saving through the use of CFLs in residences. The pilot project lasted 15 months in 105 residences. Three different surveys were done in three different periods of the pilot project to determine resident preference for CFL usage. As CFLs are acceptable lighting solutions in residences, residents' desire is an important parameter for their usage. According to residents' expressed desire for lamp replacement, it can be said that lamp replacement mostly occurred in three or four different lighting points, such as kitchens, hall-entrances and bathrooms. Establishing users' colour preference showed that cool daylight coloured lamps are mostly preferred in kitchens and bathrooms and warm white coloured lamps are preferred in halls and entrances. As a result, it was determined that 9% of residential electrical energy can be saved by using four CFLs in lighting points where the residents preferred to replace incandescent lamps.
