Dimensional and physical properties of double jersey jacquard fabrics

Work has been carried out to study the factors that influence the physical properties of double jersey and jacquard knitted fabrics. Seventeen fabrics were knitted on an electronic circular knitting machine using 30/1 Ne dyed ring spun cotton yarns and then subjected to various relaxation treatments. After relaxation they were assessed for areal density, bursting strength, air permeability, pilling, fabric thickness, and wale and course density. It was found that as the relaxation process progressed the areal density, stitch density and fabric thickness increased and the bursting strength and air permeability decreased.
