Özet
The aim of this paper is to establish an analytical method suitable to determine the orientation of a cylindrical body buried in a slab. This problem, which may have important applications in nondestructive probing, medical diagnosis, etc., is also interesting from theoretical point of view, because the body interacts with several waves created by reflections at two faces of the slab. Once the orientation has been determined, the location, shape and constitutive parameters can then be found by using any of the already known methods. Efficient and suitable method, which requires fewer measurements, can be derived by choosing the H-polarized incident field. The aim of this paper is to give a solution to the above mentioned problem in the case of H-polarized incident field. In such case, the properties of the Brewster's incidence, which does not exist for the E-polarized plane waves, permit us to determine the orientation of the body using fewer measurements. An illustrative example shows the practical applicability and the accuracy of the theory.
