Özet

There are different methods in order to have a better control on the acoustic performance of mufflers. The plane wave based models such as the transfer matrix method can offer fast initial prototype solutions for muffler designers. In this study, transfer matrix method and finite element method were used to predict the acoustic performance of muffler component having perforated tubes. The performance is quantified by the frequency-dependent sound transmission loss. The transfer matrix method is applied to "Reverse Flow - Extended Closed End Muffler" element to calculate "Transmission Loss". The numerical predictions for transmission loss characteristics in the case were compared with the results obtained by means of Finite Element Method.
