Özet
In this paper, the design, analysis, and measurement results of a Ka-Band vertically polarized omni-directional antenna are presented. Antenna consists of a mode transducer and two metallic cones that are separated by a dielectric spacer. Mode transducer converts the incident TE10 from rectangular waveguide to a TM01 mode propagating inside a circular waveguide. Azimuthal symmetry of TM01 mode is employed to obtain an omni-directional radiation, while, metallic cones are used to shape the radiation pattern in the elevation plane. This way, an elevation beam width of 45 is obtained. Proposed antenna demonstrates 4.2 dBi gain in the center frequency and has approximately 5% return loss bandwidth. Numerical calculations of the antenna are carried out using CST Microwave Studio. Antenna is manufactured by a rapid casting process and measurements are performed by using a spherical near-field scanner.
