Özet
This paper attempts to put forth the utility of using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) technologies in the field of watershed analysis. The subject of concern relies on rehabilitating the already dried lake in Turkey by diverting the effluent of a planned advanced wastewater treatment plant in the vicinity of the lake through running a water quality model under various loading scenarios. The data inventory and analyses stage is realized by the help of the modern tools of GIS and RS leading to saving of time and manpower. The boundaries of the lake before and after drying, Digital Elevation Model (DEM), bathymetry of the Lake and the alternative routes of pipe lines joining the outlet of the wastewater treatment plant to the Lake are all developed and illustrated by means of these modern technologies. This study forms an example on how multidisciplinary studies are favored especially watershed practices.
