Özet
The steady, viscous, incompressible and two dimensional, confined flow past heat generating rectangular blocks is considered in this investigation. The heat is generated by a layer of zero-thickness heat sources embedded inside the rectangular blocks. A directional implicit finite difference approximation is selected to solve the describing flow and temperature field equations numerically. The simultaneous conjugate solution of Navier Stokes equation in its Vorticity-Stream function and the energy equation for fluid and solid domains predicts the heat transfer by conduction between channel walls and rectangular blocks and convection to the fluid. Computational results demonstrated that the convection rate from the blocks depends on the position of the heat generating discrete source layer. A periodic variation of Nusselt number over the block surfaces is observed with a decreasing mean. The heat transfer rate increases both at the left corners of the blocks and near the flow reattachment point aft of the last block.
