Özet

Antimicrobial protection is provided by chemical finishes. These techniques are afforded the protection for the user of textiles against pathogenic or odour and the protection for the textiles from microorganisms which cause mould, mildew or rot. There are three mechanisms to protect the textiles and the wearers: the controlled-release mechanism, the regeneration principle and the barrier or blocking action. The products used in antimicrobial applications should be controlled for their toxicity and potential for environmental damages. Because of that, some of them which have very broad spectrum of activity against bacteria and fungi can not be used or limitedly used. In this study the antimicrobial chemical agents and their differences application areas and test methods of their microbial activities will be discuss.
