Özet
This paper presents results on compaction of amorphous TiAl-type powders by both conventional hot isostatic pressing (HIP'ing) and extremely high strain rate explosive compaction (EC). 100% density and a grain size of 40 nm were achieved after HIP'ing at 725°C, whereas smaller grain size or even an amorphous state was obtained after EC. However, in the latter case the microstructure was non-homogeneous, exhibiting some porosity, internal cracks and a high level of oxygen.
