N2 - This paper is about exploring mobile e-Government issues by analyzing and illustrating some concrete developments, so as to anchor our hypotheses on the differentiated values to be associated with the mobility supposedly triggered by such projects. We will base our observations on our own recent research experience, as well as on accounts of e-Government initiatives and programmes by others. The objective is make a sustainable proposal which aims at mapping the domain, suggesting some key clarifying indicator and eventually helping improve policy planning capabilities in this area. We will see that this implies in particular the linking, in an open and flexible way, of the various mobility-supporting developments ("mobile e-Government", declared as such), their associated conditions (standards, interoperability schemes, identity management, etc.) and a true governance perspective (i.e., the wider inter-actor coordination and multi-level underpinning paradigm necessary for the building of an effective information society).
