Özet

Designing accessible environments is often found challenging by architects and interior designers. Common design solutions may not be suitable for every occasion. Individual design solutions are required for a better experience for people with special needs. Accordingly, transforming a built environment for people with physical disabilities has become a transdisciplinary issue for designers. The experience of physical space towards smart devices has significantly changed the definition of accessibility in today’s world. Hence, this study issued the accessibility of space by reviving the ‘transdisciplinarity’ in design education. In this study, the authors seek to develop a transdisciplinary approach to accessibility by gathering interior and game designers for an indoor navigation app for mobile devices. By highlighting the differences in designers’ approaches to accessibility in space, the authors explain why accessibility is about to become a transdisciplinary issue for future designers.
