N2 - In this paper, the impact of wind power generation in power systems on electromechanical oscillations is studied while both deterministic and probabilistic approaches are used. A probabilistic small signal security index is proposed to investigate the relationship between the probability of having poorly damped inter-area oscillations and the size of a wind farm to be interconnected with a power system network. This work includes small signal stability analyses performed on a two-area power system model involving two different types of wind turbine generators, squirrel-cage and doubly-fed induction generators.
