N2 - To provide sustainable, safe, and resilient maritime transport, it is an essential aspect to monitor the operational conditions of ships at regular intervals. Therefore, public and private maritime authorities spend considerable effort monitoring the ships' conditions through adapting and implementing various inspection regimes. This paper proposes a new hybrid approach to quantify the ship condition inspections to determine whether the ship complies with the international maritime regulations or not. In the proposed approach, Step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) and simple additive weighting (SAW) methodologies are integrated aiming to achieve a global score that reflects the condition of the inspected ship. In the proposed approach, SWARA methodology is used to determine the weights of inspection criteria. SAW methodology is used to calculate the global score considering the criteria weights. Also, in the study, a ship condition assessment (SCA) form is developed which can be used for ship inspections. The applicability of the proposed approach and developed form is demonstrated on the inspection of the selected general cargo ships.
