Abstract

Thermal comfort affects occupant satisfaction, health, productivity, and energy consumption in buildings. In this study, a thermal comfort assessment system for office buildings is developed that enriches occupant feedback with necessary contextual information (e.g., building elements and geometry) and presents it to decision-makers integrated with the Building Information Model (BIM). The methodology includes developing a thermal comfort measurement model using Structural Equation Modelling, creating a prototype of the proposed BIM-integrated thermal comfort assessment system, and validating it through a case study in an office building. The results demonstrate that the developed system effectively collects and analyses occupant feedback. The proposed system is expected to optimise energy consumption and improve thermal comfort in offices, and thereby enhance occupant satisfaction, health, and productivity.
