Abstract

In this study design and analysis were made in three different types of surface mounted permanent magnet direct current machines (PMDCM); speed, efficiency, torque and air-gap flux density which are obtained from the analysis were examined and were compared among themselves. The presented machines are designed as having the same geometrical dimensions and the same materials for comparison. The main machine rated current, voltage, speed, torque, efficiency and etc. of three surface mounted permanent magnet machines which have different rotor structures; including eddy current effect, torque-speed characteristics and magnetic analysis are investigated using MAXWELL program. This study will be a helpful resource in terms of examination and comparison of the basic structure and magnetic features of the surface mounted Permanent Magnet (PM) machines.
