Abstract

In this study, low carbon steel substrate was coated with WC-Ni powder by using plasma spray process in order to increase the wear and corrosion resistance of the material. Wear tests were applied to the produced samples under different wear conditions. The coatings were characterized with regard to microstructure and mechanical properties. The microstructure of the coating was determined using an optical microscope, image analyzer and X-ray diffraction methods. It has been observed that WC-Ni coating has a high wear resistance especially in acid condition.
