Abstract

In this study dry sliding and corrosion wear resistances and cavitation erosion-corrosion (CEC) behavior of T6 and "Retrogression and Reaging (RRA)" treated 7039 aluminum alloys were compared. Dry sliding wear performance of the alloy was examined in normal atmospheric conditions. CEC and corrosion wear tests were conducted in a "30 g/l NaCl+10 ml/l HCl" solution. The experimental results showed that the RRA treatment considerably improved the resistance of 7039 aluminum alloy to CEC and dry sliding wear. The RRA treated alloy exhibited lower corrosive wear resistance than the T6 treated alloy.
