Abstract

The dynamic response of a model that simulates a one-story building with a tip mass attached as a passive vibration absorber subjected to sinusoidal and random excitations has been investigated experimentally. The effect of the forcing frequency, forcing amplitude, mass ratios and frequency ratios on the system response in the neighborhood of the autoparametric region have been studied. The main objective of this study was to conduct a series of experiments for different system parameters to investigate the autoparametric interaction between the two modes of the system.
