Abstract

The traditional method of applying the tests of control charts for unnatural patterns is to use the area divided into three equal zones between the centerline and one of the control limits. In this paper, instead of using three zones, the corresponding degrees of membership of these zones is proposed. Using the degrees of membership provides an easy way of defining the pattern. The other new types of tests may be easily developed. More narrow zones can easily defined and the number of zones can be increased to apply new tests.
