Abstract

The β-aminoketone (4-{[(4-ferrocenyl)(2-oxocyclohexyl)methyl]amino} phenyl)acetonitrile (1), as a new organometallic compound (OMC), has been synthesized and its structure has been characterized by GC-MS, FT-IR, 1H and 13C NMR, and UV-Vis spectral data in detail. The solvatochromic effect with increasing solvent polarity was studied. The voltammetric analyses of the compound showed ferrocene based signals. The electrical transport properties of an Au/OMC/Au device have been investigated. At low voltages, the film showed an ohmic conduction, whereas at higher voltage levels the conduction is dominated by space charged limited conduction (SCLC) with an exponential distribution of trapping levels. From the analysis of the frequency, ω, and dependence of the electrical conductivity, σac, it was observed that the temperature dependence of the frequency exponent, s, and conductivity, σac, were completely in agreement with the prediction of the hopping model.
