Abstract

In this study, the production of tungsten boride compounds by the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) from WO3, Mg and B2O3 mixture and followed by HCl leaching was carried out. In the leaching step, the SHS product was leached with 5.78 M HCl at different temperatures to eliminate MgO and Mg3B2O6 phases. The leached and unleached products were characterized by using XRD, AAS and SEM techniques.
