Abstract

This paper proposes a Trust-Based Access Control Mechanism that integrates trust management and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) to dynamically regulate security levels in IoT networks. The trust model evaluates node behavior and environmental context, determining appropriate security configurations, while ABAC ensures energy-efficient reconfiguration. In this study, the conditions under which DPR can be effectively utilized for energy efficiency are discussed, and the proposed model is simulated under these conditions. A MATLAB-based simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach in optimizing security and energy consumption trade-offs. Results show that by reconfiguring nodes between networks with varying security priorities, the operational lifetime of the high-security network can be extended by approximately 18%. This improvement demonstrates the potential of the proposed mechanism in maintaining compliance with predefined security policies while optimizing the trade-off between energy consumption and security in dynamically reconfigurable IoT environments.
