Abstract
A thermal effectiveness analysis of a recuperator that includes viscous frictional heating is carried out. The effect of viscous friction on the defined efectiveness is discussed. An optimum recuperator size for which the effectiveness becomes maximum is obtained analytically. It is found that the optimum size s a function of the viscosity of the running fluids.
