Abstract

Thermal behavior and kinetics of glass transition in B 2O 3 containing tungsten-tellurite glasses was studied by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. Different compositions of the 0.80TeO 2 - (0.20-x)WO 3 - xB 2O 3 system (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.20 in molar ratio) were prepared with conventional melt-quenching technique at 750°C and it was aimed to investigate the effect of B 2O 3 addition on the vitrification behavior of tungsten-tellurite glasses. The kinetics of glass transition was studied under non-isothermal conditions and the glass transition activation energy, E g, was determined by modified Kissinger equation.
