The uses of technology in L1 and L2/LN sign language pedagogy

Abstract

The latest developments in human-machine interaction, robotics, and smart devices have encouraged researchers to use advanced technology-based solutions for sign language recognition, translation, and generation/presentation methods; and teaching schemes, which uses the advances of these methods including e-learning platforms. This chapter presents technology-based techniques and applications as a part of teaching strategies of L1 and L2/Ln sign language, several example applications of the different technologies, and an assessment of its effectiveness as teaching and learning tools.
