Abstract

Platinum group metals (PGM) have two sub groups. One of these groups is named as heavy group which is consist of platinum (Pt), iridium (Ir), and osmium (Os) elements. The other one is light group containing palladium (Pd), ruthenium (Ru), rhodium (Rh) elements. Turkey has an important chromite reserves at the same time an important chromite producer. Ultrabasic rock series of Turkey containing chromite ores are shown especially in the part of Marmara, Mediterranean and East Anatolia. Both ultrabasic series and chromite ores have much kind of metals on various mineral forms such as PGM (platinum, palladium, and osmium) nickel and cobalt. In this study, Turkey's chromites were processed and investigated the recovery possibilities of the Platinum Group Metals and Nickel. PGM, Gold and Nickel content of the Muǧla ore is 0.02 g/t, 0.03 g/t and 881g/t, respectively. Gravity concentration methods and Flotation tests were applied to the ore. PGM content in flotation concentrate is 0.24 g/t.
