Abstract

In this study, the expected wind energy of 9 MW installed power is calculated by using the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). Spilled wind energy is determined by Power System Analysis Toolbox (PSAT). Since the unit price of electricity generated by wind energy is known, the cost of the spilled wind energy can be calculated. Energy storage systems (ESSs) are researched, and the annual costs of each ESS are calculated. Also, ESS leads to decreases in line losses and hence profits were calculated and compared with the cost of ESS. Results of the study showed that for 9 MW installed power, ESS is not feasible but it is obvious that ESS will be feasible for higher power ratings.
